I've been to SoHo many times for both Hibachi and Sushi. I absolutely love Hibachi, the portions are generous and its never a fail with the filet. I've ordered an array of Sushi rolls, never been disappointed with the Oceans 11 sushi boat which is fantastic (45 pieces). The only reason why I didn't rate SoHo 5 out of 5 stars is the service, the wait is long even with reservations and it always seems short staffed there. One more note, the smoke from the hibachi grill area travels throughout the restaurant, so if you're planning on going out afterwards, bring perfume with you. Overall a great place for dinner celebrations and girls nights.

I don't know about the other reviews for sketchy service, but there was a problem with the grill not being turned on at the right time causing a delay in our order. David the manager came out and personally saw to us including free beer refills and sushi! He explained the problem on top of providing a time line for a solution. The food was excellent and the temptation roll with sweet potatoes was a brilliant original! I don't travel to Cincy often, but when I do, I will seek this place out for either great sushi, hibachi service or both.

Great atmosphere and service. But food is lower expectations. Tom Yum sip didn't have lemongrass and mushrooms, no lime juice or cilantro (big pieces of red and green pepper instead), wasn't sour at all. Tasted more like siracha soul from some grocery. Tuna tataki wasn't fried or heated at all. Sushi was nothing special but pricey. Will try this place again to see if we are wrong, but TomYum was a great disappointment.

This is one the better sushi restaurants in Cincinnati. The place is split with hibachi on one side and sushi on the other. The decor is nice and is inviting for both groups and a date night. Our server was great. She brought us fresh wasabi which was very good. We had four rolls: JG, Mango Tango, Jobu, and Volcano. All were very delicious! The Mango Tango and JG were our favorites. The Jobu was good, but was a lot smaller than the other rolls. Instead of 8 servings, it only had 5. The Volcano was good too, but a little heavy on the cream cheese. If you're a wine lover, they have a pretty reasonable wine selection too. Overall, it is one of our favorite sushi spots in Cincinnati and will be added to the "rotation".

I think I will settle on 3 stars for this location after multiple visits. The food is spot on - great sushi. The ambiance is great, but I really just can't get over the service. It shouldn't take someone 5 minutes to come over and greet a table when there are 7 servers just standing around. Even if it's not your table you go over and say Hi. It's called teamwork. Otherwise, my last visit was pleasant. Service was great when someone finally came over and the sushi was fresh and delicious as always.

This is the best Japanese food in the area. Great atmosphere, and very nice portions.

Last month I was in West Chester for two weeks and dined at Soho twice during my visit. Both times were a testament to the great food. During the first visit our waitress was less than friendly but for my second visit I sat at the hibachi grill and the waitress was very kind and helpful. The hibachi chef was fantastic! He was very skilled and friendly, which is exactly what I and family look for in a hibachi chef. The owner stopped by twice to ask about our meal. I had sushi both times I was there, equally delicious both times. If you are looking for an all encompassing Asian restaurant look no further. Soho has hibachi grills, sushi bar, and an extensive menu filled with great dishes. Soho does not disappoint.

One of the best hibachi restaurants in the city. Never have a problem with the food!

Very good Japenese food and sushi. Had the steak and shrimp and it was fantastic. My son has the lobster and that too was very good. The hibachi grill master was fun and entertaining. A great place for a family dinner. This is a higher end dinner than what you would typically expect in a Japanese resturaunt. Food quality and service are both very good.

Their food and presentation is fine. But service is really bad. They kept us waiting 20mins to order, and took more than an hour for the food. We were just sitting there, even there was no one to fill our drinks....

Oh my! We came in for a late dinner around 9:30pm, tired from a day of shopping and a late wine & canvas class. We decided on hibachi, and it was very good. Our chef was very funny and definitely kept us occupied. He would squirt sake in our mouths and the table would count to see how long we could go. Us 4 girls didn't get very far (13 I think!), but the table next to us was having a roaring time. After multiple rounds of sake bombs, they made it past 60 on the counting sake game. Wowsa. The hibachi was excellent, and I really preferred it to my sister's sushi order that she placed. It is definitely a lively place, and most of the staff strives to entertain the guests. I would definitely go back again.

Service has become the worst. Meal took 2 hours, and didn't get all of our food. Went from fans to haters, likely last visit.

The sushi at Soho is phenomenal! The Heaven Roll was to die for! So rich, creamy and spicy.. all at the same time. We had thee BEST server. Her name is Kerstyn. So attentive and a gorgeous smile. She was completely honest and let me know what she thought that I would like, since I'm not a complete sushi conasaur. Boy was she right. Best waitress and sushi EVER!!!!! Will be back :)

We had takeout while in town. I called in the order, it was taken down correctly and was told to come by in about 20 minutes. When I arrived (at closing) it was completely empty... on a Friday. The facilities looks beautiful and very inviting. When I came in, no one attended to me, and workers pretended like they did not see me until I made sure to catch someone's attention. Later the manager brought out our sushi and we were out. The food was very fresh and full of flavor. Don't expect gourmet sushi here, but do expect very fresh fish. The prices are pretty reasonable.

Went there on NYE for dinner. The experience didn't start off well, they lost or reservation. But they accommodated us well and got us a table in about fifteen minutes. The "show" they do while cooking your food was awesome, better than any other hibachi restaurant i have been to in the past. The quality of there seafood is amazing as well the scallops were cooked just right. We will definitely be going back, I'm excited to try there sushi!

The atmosphere was very classy and calm. The service was excellent, we even swapped sushi-making tips with the waiter. Our hibachi guy was a lot of fun with both the adults and kids at the table. We enjoyed to food, California rolls were good and the Fillet Mignon was very tender. We would definitely come back!

I literally love sushi. My absolute favorite food. That being said, I've been to A LOT of sushi places: a lot good, a lot not so good. I like to think I'm a credible source when i tell you this place is AMAZING!!! First off, they have FRESH WASABI! Have you ever even been to a place, let alone around here, with fresh wasabi? Yum!

Soho is one of my families favorite restaurants. I had never been, but they always rave about it, specifically the rice. We went for lunch and chose to do the hibachi grill side of the restaurant. With your order, you get soup, salad, and the main dish of rice, meat/protein, and vegetables. The soup is a beef base, so I had a soy based soup, which was pretty good. The salad is your typical hibachi grill salad... I ordered the chicken and my sister ordered the scallops. The chicken was a little bland, but add a little yum-yum sauce and you're good to go. The rice was really good and I took my sisters suggestion and added yum-yum sauce to it and it was even better. The yum-yum sauce is the key to their food! We also ordered the cucumber sushi roll. It was good, but not much different than other locations. I had leftovers and ate them for dinner. Although Soho isn't my favorite restaurant, it definitely is good and I would go back if my family wanted to go.

I went to Soho for lunch with my sister on a Friday - needless to say it wasn't very busy but there were a couple of different groups of people there. Due to the time of day and mid-week lunch it appeared that there was really only one waitress for the whole place which made for a very busy waitress, but she was still great! The ambiance is like walking onto a movie set and you get to see all the different sections of the restaurant with a bar, sushi bar, dining area (including a traditional shoes off/sit on the floor style seating), and of course the hibachi tables. The lunch menu was pretty simple yet great value for what was offered - you can get a lunch combo with two rolls (six pieces of sushi each roll) for $10 or three rolls for $13 and these combos come with miso soup and a ginger salad. They also offer a lunch bento box which includes your choice of two meats, a sushi roll, rice, miso soup and ginger salad. Needless to say you do not go hungry eating here and you also don't go for broke! I also got the beef gyoza as an appetizer and they were great - as in they were gone in about 3 minutes flat they were so good. I definitely recommend Soho if you're looking for a fun hibachi style dinner with a group of friends or just a casual outing with one friend or partner. It will work for either!

If 3 stars doesn't say "I'm on the fence about this place" then I don't know what does. I was a huge fan of their lunch menu with reasonably priced Bento boxes on Saturday, but now that's discontinued. The up side is that you can order a regular sized combo and it's big enough to split with another person. But yeah, service is usually spotty. Sushi is usually good. Most of the food is usually good. 3 stars, I suppose. The environment is pretty heavily themed, so that may contribute to your experience.

This place has excellent food all around... They have a sushi bar, traditional Japanese room for no shoes or chairs eating, a good bar and about 8 hibachi grills for grilling. Living in Seattle, California and Maine has really made a picky seafood eater out of me, but the sushi here is as fresh as it gets in Cincinnati. The hibachi grill is a fun way to enjoy a dinner with a group or family. The show is always fun and the food is excellent. I want to steal the ginger sauce recipe here! Soho Roll ~ Spicy tuna, avocado, fried white fish, spicy mayo, eel sauce, honey mayo topped with purple cabbage, scallions, masago and jalapeños ~ is my favorite! They have a great selection of wines to boot. I was floored to find a bottle of 1448 from Jeff Runquist on the menu. Overall this is a "can't miss" spot for a great meal and great fun.

I've now visited Soho a few times, once with a co-worker for a sushi lunch, and a couple of times to sit at the hibachi grill. I've got to say that Benihana was always one of my favorite restaurants, but Soho does it just as well if not BETTER than Benihana and for a similar if not a little cheaper price. My dad and his girlfriend brought me here for my birthday and the meal was great. The steak was cooked perfectly and the ginger sauce was absolutely delicious. I love the soup and salad, though the salad dressing is a little on the creamy side for me. I prefer my ginger dressing to be the more traditional version. Fried rice and vegetables are tasty too. Drinks were kept full and all requests were responded to quickly. Overall, a really good experience. I'll definitely go back, though it's so far away from where I live...

I've been to Soho 15-20 times over the past year. I always get sushi and haven't found a roll that wasn't amazing. Very friendly staff and management, prices are a tad high but I suppose that's what happens when you get 3 rolls, nonetheless the atmosphere and food make it worth-while.

  • Nathan P.

Cheap, very mediocre food at expensive prices. Six dollars for a bottled Tsingstao? What am I, an idiot? And sushi isn't even worth having with rice of this quality. Flavorless, textural nonsense. I know this isn't a particularly helpful review but I just can't stand these concrete and leather monuments of Americanized bland.

It's been a while since we visited Soho, but it was a good experience. We came on a whim because my wife was craving sushi, and I always enjoy some hibachi. The staff did a wonderful job of taking care of us, and we loved the food. My wife's favorite is the cooked eel, and it was quite enjoyable, as was my steak hibachi. We may have drawn the short straw on the hibachi chef. He was either very new, or not as skilled/funny as other hibachi chefs I have encountered. He tried, but the entertainment was a bit dry. We would go back to Soho, but it isn't our favorite. We enjoyed the experience and the food, but left thinking it was just okay.

Probably the best hibachi in Cincinnati, and there are a bunch now.

The hibachi is definitely my favorite of all! Although their sushi can be pretty amazing as well, their fish is always served fresh. It's a perfect place for big parties. They have amazing private rooms especially for special events. Never had a problem with service and management is always helpful. I definitely recommend this place. The decor inside is beautifully constructed. Great atmosphere all around!

Great food but becareful of the hibachi menu prices the waiter rang us up for the wrong price($25.00) instead of $22.00. he claimed they updated there menus or prices or something like that and that is the way it came up in the register. So he corrected it we gave him a substantial tip, but he decided to fraudulantly write in his own tip, and we had to take other measures of action. Other than that great food and sushi!!!!! Our chef was not as entertaining as the other Chef's at the other tables.

My husband and I had lunch at Soho's. I guess Sushi is not for me! My husband loved it!!! We both ordered the lunch combination box. I had the filet mignon, shrimp, fried rice and California rolls. To start, the Miso soup and salad. I loved the salad. The dressing was light and very cold. Ok. The fried rice and shrimp were average. The filet, well it was in a sweet sauce. The sweet taste made me nauseous. Moved on to the Sushi, more nausea. Like, I said, my husband loved it. I'm guessing Japanese is not for me. I like my filet tender, rare and salty, not sweet. I just don't see what the big deal is about Sushi. Yikes!!! I tried to eat it but can't. Great for those who can.

I'm normally turned off by Suburban Strip Mall dining but we went with some friends here to Soho. It's an interesting place. It seemed like a combination of a sushi bar, wait-staff service restaurant, benihana-type teppanyaki grill table restaurant, and traditional beer/liquour bar all in one. Plus they have a room to the side with a low table. Dress-wise would be not too casual, you may feel out of place in a sweatshirt but jeans and a polo would be ok. Lots of business-types all dressed up in there. Food was better than average. Service wasn't great. I tried some sushi (not a sushi connoisseur) and it was good. It was a bit pricy as well, I probably won't go back on my own based on price-to-food cost/quality; but I would go back if my friends wanted to go there.

Bad tempura - the ratio of breading to core food was just too high. The avocado green salad had too much dressing. Sushi was pretty good and food seemed pretty fresh overall. Don't expect any noodle soups here (e.g. ramen). I hear they do have good lunch specials. Water refills were slow, though service overall was amazing. They do have a private room that can fit about 20 people that's quite nice. Prefer Ando overall.

I only had sushi rolls on carryout but they were really yummy. They were simple, California and eel cucumber, but the 'easy' ones are a good way to judge a place. I will definitely get their sushi again next time I'm in West Chester. Prices were reasonable too, $11 for two rolls.

I had a hard time determining how many stars to give Soho. We've been going there since before it opened actually, as I had the good fortune of ending up at a bar on New Years Eve next to the managing team that had been imported from Florida to open the place. Those were some very boisterous, very fun, and very drunk young men, and when they couldn't get a cab to take them to a strip club in Dayton we bonded over a mutual love of whiskey. (Sidenote: if you ever run into me at a bar, ask me to tell the story about how, totally out of the blue, one of them slapped the glasses right off the face of the other when he "talked back". Epic.) Anyway, we started off big fans of Soho. Every time we'd go in we were greeted with "HEY, MR. JEFF AND MRS. JEFF!!!" It was fun. The service was spotty but the place was brand new, and the food was great. We went back many times. Since then all those guys were let go, the service is still spotty, but now the food is too. Expect long waits when you get there, even with reservations. Expect a long wait to place an order once you're seated at a hibachi table, and a long wait for the food to be prepared. Sometimes the food is excellent, other times not, but most of all, and I cannot stress this enough, BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU SIT IN RELATION TO THE CHEF. I had the misfortune, twice, of going there as part of a large group, and I ended up essentially sitting behind the chef. Aside from missing out on "the show", which is half the reason to get hibachi in the first place, when it came time to cook and parcel out the food, he always went from his left to his right, meaning I was the last person to get any each time. By the time it got to me there was hardly anything left to give. While everyone else had overflowing plates of delicious fried rice, mixed veggies, shrimp, filet, and lobster, I got a half portion of rice, my "veggies" were two or three onion slivers, and the meat, well, I ended up with what I can only generously describe as a "kiddie meal". Frankly it was so ridiculous that had I been watching it happen to someone else it would have been funny. But since it happened to me... not so funny. Of course there have been plenty of times we've eaten there when everything was great, and we'd still go back there if not for one new twist -- Geisha is right next door. And now that they have hibachi too, it's better than Soho at pretty much everything. That doesn't make Soho bad by any stretch, and the sushi is still quite good (in fact this is the first place I discovered I liked sushi, so it will always have a special place in my heart). If Geisha wasn't next door to compare it to I'd probably be less focused on the negatives and more on the positives and we'd still be eating there all the time. But since it is, I can't find a whole lot of reasons to go to Soho instead.

Raw Chicken right next to our cooked Fried Rice. Then the spatula that was used to move the raw chicken next to the fried rice was immediately used to serve that fried rice on our plates. Drunk Chef (kept kneeling down behind table to take another drink, then back up for some more cooking.) made the evening not so enjoyable. This place was pretty good when it first opened, but quality has gone down. If you have a bad experience, don't be afraid to stand your ground. Persistence pays off!

The sushi is very good. Quality ingredients, fresh and well prepared. The bar is well stocked with a very good wine list. The atmosphere is upscale, which is a big plus for me. Many sushi/hibachi places are dives, and when I'm on the company dime having a nice place to relax while I eat is a priority. I travel to Cincinnati often and this is a regular part of my rotation.

OMG, volcano rolls! Love them here. I'm sure if you're a sushi purist, you'd scoff at me for being obsessed with rolls that are covered in tempura and fried, but it just hits my taste buds right. So sue me... ;) The special rolls a bit pricy, along with many other things on the menu, but the food is decent and the service at the sushi bar is top-notch.

Again another night of spotty service! Our waitress was nice enough but when she brought out or sushi I noticed we didn't have any soy sauce at the table. As she was setting down the plate I asked if she could please bring soy sauce, to which she replied "yes". We waited at least ten minutes, if not more. Pure torture sitting there eyeing our sushi platter while waiting for soy sauce. Sushi itself was pretty good. If only service was consistently good they would stop losing stars!

The ambiance inside this seemingly never crowded bistro is relaxing (waterfall), hip (neon in the bar), and Japanese. I think that's where the experience stops being fun. For lunch, I ordered the regular Sushi lunch. What I got was the Sashimi deluxe. Hm. I payed for it, and I really didn't enjoy it. It was nicely presented on a banana leaf with all the colorful sashimi on it. However, the fish seemed to be room temperature and flaccid. I thought sushi was supposed to be cool to cold and firm. Our waiter's voice was extremely quiet, and it took him forever to bring our checks. For not being crowded, I'm not sure what the problem was. Well, that's that. Once and never again. Sorry Soho.

I've been here 3 times and wish I could afford to go back to keep up a weekly sushi habit. First time I sat at a table, service was slow, but the last time couple times I went to the sushi bar. I went alone last time and a friendly sushi chef named Calvin whipped me out his latest test creations! Always being a willing guinea pig (as long as it doesn't have eyes to look at me with) I gladly sampled his latest art. This is a great date place - although it's in a strip mall, when you walk in, the atmosphere is beautiful, with fountains and private traditional dining areas. I haven't tried their grill yet, so I'll have to update this when I get my belly full...

I used to like this place. Took the whole office there the other day for sushi. Our first clue that things had gone bad was that the place was empty except for us. Oh, well, it's Monday. After we had to wait an extraordinarily long time for the waitress to come back and take our order (at which time she asked, "Do you need a few more minutes to look over the menu?" -- already had QUITE a few...), our eyebrows were raising yet more. Most of us got sushi rolls which were just OK -- the sauce on the spicy tuna role was rather off-the-shelfy, the eel sauce tasted more like hoisin sauce. The worst part was that the avocados in the various rolls were unripe, HARD, and EXTREMELY BITTER. Really? What self-respecting sushi chef would put THAT into a roll? I mentioned it to our waitress and she did NOT take it off the bill. There are plenty of sushi places around so if Soho turned into a Foot Locker I wouldn't shed a tear. Not going back.

Soho was so-so! Rather disappointed for we read many good reviews and have friends who recommended. I was impressed with open - oriental decor when we arrived. I was excited for the sign at front desk announced "live scallops." I love scallops! I asked the waitress and she did not know for she was new. She did not know what the house wine was and she complained that the restaurant was too noisy. We placed our order and waited 30 minutes before they brought our wine and the wrong soup, which eventually came another half hour later after the entree. Salad was bad! Too much dressing and iceberg lettuce, really!? Chef who cooked at hibachi grill - table was entertaining. Food was good but not great, especially at their prices. Another waitress replaced the newbie and she was better. Waitress #2 was attentive to my wife but never asked me if I needed more wine or water when both were empty. Waitress #2 apologized for they were busy. More like under staff for there were many open tables. Another couple who goes there regularly said service is normally much better. Might try again, Kids will love the show the chef puts on at table.

I haven't made it off of their sushi menu yet, but that is because I like it so much and sushi is my gateway meal at Japanese restaurants. The sushi rolls are inventive without going over the top. The portions of fish in the rolls are ample too, which is always nice. I'll be back, and will eventually get to trying some of the other dishes which look good as well.

In general I'm not a fan of West Chester, but if you have to go to dinner in that area, this isn't bad. I was there for a work dinner, so I got to sample a lot of dishes: edamame, shrimp tempura, veggie tempura, soup, salad, california rolls and spicy tuna rolls, and we had the experience which you can have in the back rooms of having a chef cook the fried rice dishes live in front of you. Everything was good. The service wasn't perfect, as they forgot to offer us boxes, and we had to ask for water refills. But the food was good and even the chicken was tender. A lot of fun things to choose from, and nice large wooden decorations in the entrance way. Also the bartender was nice.
